NHS Waiting Times: At End July 2009

The latest statistics on NHS waiting times produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 26th August 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on NHS Wales waiting times for admission as an inpatient or day case and for a first outpatient appointment include data for Welsh residents waiting for NHS funded treatment as at the end of July 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 29th July 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • The number waiting over 14 weeks on the inpatient/day case list rose over the month from 3,226 to 3,658 and the number waiting over 22 weeks rose over the month from 329 to 623.
  • The number waiting over 10 weeks on the outpatient list rose over the month from 3,172 to 5,840 and the number waiting over 22 weeks rose over the month from 12 to 36. (Excluding Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).
