Information and statistics on search and rescue helicopters.

New experimental statistics presenting findings on civilian search and rescue helicopter (SARH) taskings, with breakdowns by the tasking category (rescue or recovery, search only, support), the location and the time spent on taskings.

These data are derived from an administrative system used by the helicopter operators, and provided to the department by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

Ministry of Defence has historically published a National Statistics series on military search and rescue helicopter activity and will continue to do so until military operations cease, with the final statistics being published in February 2016.

Experimental statistics

As these are new statistics, we are publishing this data as experimental statistics, as they are still in the testing phase and are subject to change as we determine user needs. We will seek to obtain National Statistics designation in due course.
